A good post is supposed to feel good. Instead it turns into a list of people waiting, and a decision about which of them you have time to disappoint.

The cost isn't only the sale you miss. It is what the silence teaches everyone else reading: that asking here doesn't get you an answer. A comments section where questions go unanswered stops collecting questions.
Triage is a plan until the volume arrives
Every one of these is a reasonable way to handle a busy day. They stop being reasonable at the exact moment a post outperforms — which is the day they matter most.
- Answering the ones that look most promising
- A comment is four words long. There is nothing in it that tells you which person was about to buy and which was passing through — you are sorting on a signal that is not there.
- Doing them all in one go, later
- This is the efficient way to clear a backlog and the worst way to answer a question. By the evening, the reply that would have landed in three minutes is arriving after the interest it was answering has gone.
- Getting somebody to help
- A person is the right answer for the hard ones and an expensive one for the easy ones — and comment volume is spiky, so you are either paying for quiet hours or short-staffed on the loud ones. Nobody is there at 2am either way.
