Confirm it with Gmail's code

Gmail sends a code to check the forwarding — it shows up here, on the account's “Email settings” tab. Type it into Gmail and forwarding is on.

Worth knowing

  • Microsoft 365 can block forwarding outside the company. An admin turns it on in Defender → Anti-spam → Outbound policy → Automatic forwarding.
  • Offers and spam are set aside, never answered.
